"Our awareness of universal change is so encompassing that it is as though our languages have lost all nouns; now they must be replaced with verbs. Nouns represent concepts of “things,” while verbs signify action and transformation. Objects no longer exist; there are only events. Subatomic particles, viruses and elephants, societies and galaxies are no longer represented by the fixed, mental imagery we have been used to. Objects must yield to connections, processes, and patterns of change. Something dramatic is about to happen in the way we understand reality, the way we understand our nouns." Excerpt from "There will come a time . . ." by Anne and Rolf Solheim

The Universe is considered a living being, . . . nowhere exists anything lasting, any immobility, anything complete; instead we must realize that all is in continuous motion and flux . . . . Goethe in "Metamorphose" 1807

Here are some links that give an idea of what the world is all about these days:

Centre for Human Emergence presents Spiral Dynamics (Don Beck's system explaining how value sets in different cultures and time periods have influenced societies and ways of life) and Integral Thinking (Ken Wilber's map of consciousness). With these tools it is possible BOTH to understand today's turbulent world AND to build bridges to a better future. Norwegian anthropologist Thomas Hylland Eriksen often appears in Scandinavian magazines and television. His web site is a good starting point for comprehending the human realm.
Worldwatch Institute  gives a running account of Earth’s physical health and human activity influencing it. World Transformation is an all-encompassing site mainly concerned with alternative (or little known) World processes.
The great thinkers are presented by Alexander Chislenko,  a Russian living in Boston. His web site contributes to the understanding of man, humanity, the world and the universe. Peter Russel is internationally known for monitoring the pulse of the collective body of humanity. His home page gives useful hints to trends and thinking beyond the general fashion of economics, politics and finance.
James Lovelock's website gives a somewhat bleak but realistic insight into the state of the world, about sustainability, climate, pollution and energy. Oneworld online is probably the largest collection of organizations (750 NGOs) on the web working for development, environment and human rights. They keep an open eye on news not generally found in the tabloids.
